Dental Bridges - How is the aftercare? After the second treatment session, the patient may normally return home immediately. A follow-up inspection of the bridge should take place a few days after the cementation process, during which small adjustments may be made if necessary.2 Regular follow-up inspections are essential for the lifespan of the fixed dental replacement and should be carried out once or twice per year while the bridge is in place.
One further important measure which will increase the lifespan of your dental bridge is professional and very thorough oral hygiene. Ideally, the crowns should be cleaned after every meal, at least twice per day. For this purpose, a soft toothbrush and a toothpaste with a neutral pH value are recommended. Additional cleaning of the gaps between the teeth with dental floss is advisable.9
However, aftercare activities depend on your individual situation. Please speak with your dentist about these in more detail.
