Fertility Treatment - Introduction

Over the course of the last decade, the role and self-perception of women in society has changed dramatically. A qualified education and one's own existential security take first priority for many people, resulting in a situation where starting a family is relegated to secondary status. Worldwide, women bear their first child when they are an average of 27 years old.1

According to the German Federal Statistical Office, the number of women who first desire children after the age of 30 has doubled within the last ten years in that country. As a consequence, more and more women are finding that their desire to have children remains unfulfilled. In addition, the number of men who suffer from mild to severe fertility issues has increased.
Fortunately, research has progressed to the point where many couples with an unfulfilled desire for children can be helped. A course of treatment which addresses these needs can be conservatively and/or operatively pursued.2
