Fertility Treatment - ResultsBecause individual therapies are generally tested for success in different combinations, the determination of concrete success rates proves to be difficult. Nonetheless, one can say that in vitro fertilisation demonstrates a success rate of a little under 20% per cycle in Germany, for example. This means that out of every 100 couples that undergo IVF treatment, 20 achieve pregnancy per cycle. With ICSI therapy, slightly less successful results can be achieved. Under especially good conditions, success rates of 30% can be achieved. This corresponds roughly to the chances a "healthy" couple would have to obtain pregnancy per cycle. According to Germany's IVR registry, IVF treatment leads almost 70% of couples to pregnancy when up to 6 attempts are made consistently. Certain characteristics of couples (e.g. advanced age, massive amount of excess weight) can negatively influence a successful outlook.2,4
