Breast Reduction - Preparation

First, you need to clarify whether a breast reduction is appropriate for you in a preliminary pre-operative conversation with your doctor. You should also discuss how you envision the size and shape of your breasts as well as which operational methods are right for you. In order to later be able to make a direct comparison, photographs of your upper body are usually made during this session as well.

Beginning 14 days prior to the operation, you should not take any medications such as anticoagulants; you should also refrain from using alcohol or sleeping pills. In the four weeks before the operation, smokers are advised to either reduce their nicotine consumption drastically or eliminate it altogether.
If you suffer from allergies, you should share this with the doctor who is treating you immediately.

Additionally, information about illnesses or coagulation disorders should not be withheld from your doctor. In some cases it is also sensible to conduct an ultrasound and/or mammogram before the operative procedure in order to identify possible changes to the breast tissue.6

You doctor will clarify any further potential preparatory measures in more detail.
