Breast Reduction - Risks

Directly after the operation you will feel aches and slight movement irritation in the chest region. However, these should fade within the next few days. Swelling and bruising may also result from the procedure; these generally recede after a few days to a few weeks.15

There may be altered sensitivity in the area of the nipple, which in rare cases remains for long periods. The loss of the areolae and the ability to breastfeed are also very rarely occurring complications.
During the operation, bleeding, secondary bleeding, and infections are possible. In some cases, the new shape and size of the breasts do not completely reflect the desires of the patient. In these cases, further incisions should be discussed with a doctor.16

You doctor will clarify these and other risks as well as your personal risk situation in a private conversation.
