Cheek Correction - AftercareWhen treatment has completed successfully, you may normally return home immediately or possibly after the effects of the sedative have worn off. If a sedative was administered to you, you should not drive and may only leave the clinic accompanied by another person.9
Be prepared for mild pains in the first days after the introduction of implants. Swelling and bruising may occur in the first week; for injections this generally subsides after 1-2 days. The recession of swelling is aided by placing cooling elements on the affected areas. Freedom of movement in the mouth and upper lip is somewhat constrained in the first few post-operative days. A slight sensation of numbness in the upper lip and in the area next to the nose is also normal; this fades after a few days. Please proceed carefully when brushing your teeth and doing anything involving your face.
For implants, the stitches in your mouth usually dissolve after 10 days. You should excuse yourself from work for about a week and also avoid sports activities during this time period.
After an injection, you are usually able to socialise once again after the swelling has subsided.10, 11
Aftercare activities, however, also depend on your individual situation; please speak about this with your doctor in further detail.
