Chin Correction - Preparation

In a preliminary conversation with the oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is treating you, the surgeon will discuss the details of the procedure and address your wishes and desires. During this session, a pre-operative analysis is typically performed in which the visual alteration is planned and simulated using x-rays of your jaw and computer simulation software.4

As in all surgical procedures, you should refrain from taking anticoagulant medications (e.g. aspirin) and sleeping pills 14 days before the operation. The consumption of alcohol should likewise be taboo prior to the operation. Smoking interferes with the healing process and should be abstained from in the two weeks before and after the chin correction. Your teeth as well as the entire mouth area should be free of infection for the operation. If there are any doubts about this, seek out a dentist in advance.5

Otherwise, there are usually no special preparatory measures that need to be observed. However, please speak about this in detail with the doctor who is treating you.
