Eyelid Correction - Introduction

Our eyelids bring a fully-formed aesthetic unity to our face, contributing substantially to an open, friendly image and a radiant look. However, natural aging processes can make themselves noticeable. Skin and muscle tissue in the area of the eyes can lose their tautness, which leads to the development of wrinkles and excess tissue. Puffing of the fatty tissue (periorbital tissue) situated in the eye socket can also occur. Such skin irregularities are conspicuously visible and are referred to in everyday terms as drooping lids (upper eyelids) or bags under the eyes (lower eyelids).

Depending on the nature of the irregularity, drooping lids and bags under the eyes can lend the impression of a prematurely aged, tired face. By performing an "eyelid lift", an optical rejuvenation of the affected eyelids can be achieved, thereby improving their outward appearance.¹
