Hair Transplantation - Risks

Serious complications arise very rarely in hair transplants. As with every surgical procedure, the occurrence of bleeding, infections, or abnormal scar formation are indeed possible. There may also be pigmentation irregularities in the receiving region or cyst formation.2,6

If the transplants are not professionally prepared, too many follicular units or grafts may be transplanted during a session or they may be placed too closely to one another, which may cause a decline in the percentage of hairs which begin to grow.1

In addition, the presence of certain illnesses such as chronic diseases of the heart, liver, or lungs as well as infections, diabetes, inadequate nutrition, or alcohol abuse represent risk factors which can impair the growth of hair.8

The doctor who is treating you will gladly clarify these and further possible risks in greater detail.
