Jaw Correction - RisksPossible complications of the surgical correction of defective jaw positioning are strong bleeding during and after the procedure, wound healing problems, and tissue that dies off. Infections can also occur. Is it furthermore possible that there may be allergic reactions to the materials used in the operation.
When the incisions are made, nerves can be injured, leading to temporary or long-term feelings of numbness or other symptoms of paralysis. In most cases, these symptoms fade after a few months. While dividing the lower jawbone, there may be injuries to the dental roots, which would damage them lastingly.
Impairments of a functional and aesthetic nature can come from excessive scar formation. In addition, it is possible, as in every operation with an aesthetic aspect, that you will not be satisfied with the visual results of the procedure.7
Your doctor will gladly clarify these and other risks as well as your personal risk situation in a private conversation.
