Like preparatory measures, aftercare activities are heavily dependent on the selected method of treatment and personal initial situation.
After a laser removal, you may leave the place of treatment either after the anesthetic has worn off or on the following day. The results should be monitored regularly by a specialist. ⁴

Reddening occurs most often; bruising also occurs in some cases but fades away after a few weeks. Your doctor will prescribe you appropriate creams or aftercare salves as well as medications against infection if necessary. For CO2-laser treatments, regular bandage changes should take place in the first week following the procedure. ⁵
Please be aware that your skin is very tender after a chemical peel and that the new layer of skin first starts to form after a week. The crust that forms after about two days should not be scratched under any circumstances. ⁵

For all types of treatment, you should refrain from using make-up for at least one week; three weeks in the case of a chemical peel. During the first 2-3 months after the procedure it is vital that you actively protect your skin from sunlight. ⁴
Dermal stitches used in transplantations or skin grafts are typically removed after about a week. ¹
