Skin Correction - AftercareIn the first couple of days after laser or peeling treatment, pain and feelings of tension normally occur. The strength of the pain depends on the type of laser used as well as which type of acid is used. Furthermore, your skin will experience substantial reddening and agitation. Within 2 days, a scab will form on the surface of the wound. This should not be peeled off under any circumstances - the body's rejection of the scab will occur naturally within 5-8 days. About 1 week after the crust has been rejected by the body, a new, delicate pink layer of skin appears. This layer of skin is initially still very sensitive and should be treated with an appropriate nurturing salve.8,10,11
After a laser treatment, it may be necessary in some cases to conduct secondary treatments for the benefit of the healing process and the reduction of undesired effects. In most cases, however, cooling measures should be sufficient.9
In order to prevent mispigmentation, the areas of skin that have been treated using a laser or peeling should be protected from natural or artificial sunlight. In the first 6-8 weeks, direct sunlight should therefore be avoided. In general, sunbathing in the first six months after treatment should be undertaken using an increased level of protection from sunlight.5,7, 10,11
Please speak with the doctor who is treating you about the above-mentioned measures as well as further individual aftercare measures.
