Spider Vein Treatment - Aftercare

After laser or radiofrequency treatment, skin reddening is usually present for a few hours. Bruises (hematomae) are also possible. In exceptional cases, small crusts or scabs appear. If spider veins have been removed, it is possible that temporary mispigmentation may occur. Sunlight should be avoided for 6-8 weeks after treatment. For optimal treatment results, multiple sessions carried out at 4-6 week intervals may be necessary.1,6

After the operative removal of varicose veins via stripping, there is often tissue bleeding which is externally visible as blue flecks. You should also expect wound pains in the first few days. You can pursue daily work life again after about 9-10 days.
Common to both treatments is that need for movement and light calisthenics on the first day after treatment. Compression stockings should be worn during the first week.8

However, aftercare activities also depend on your individual situation; please speak about these in detail with your doctor.
