Spider Vein Treatment - PreparationA precondition for the treatment of venous malformations is the absence of any contra-indicators against the sclerotisation or removal of venous parts. Such contraindications would be present when the affected surface veins are being used for compensatory blood flow to the heart, e.g. when the deeper veins have been closed off. In this case, closing the surface venous system would have a disastrous effect. For this reason, morphological and functional examinations are conducted prior to the procedure.7
Please give the doctor who is treating you specific details about the medicines you are taking. It is very important you discontinue taking medications which inhibit blood clotting (for example, aspirin and pain- or fever-reducing medicines) at least 14 days prior to the procedure. For laser therapy treatment, the skin should not be tanned.1
Please speak about these and other preparatory measures explicitly with your doctor.
