The nominal goal of varicose vein removal is the normalisation or retention of venous functions; in many cases an accompanying goal is the contemporaneous aestheticisation of the affected regions of the body, usually the legs.
In most cases, the above-mentioned methods, potentially in conjunction with other methods, can achieve very good results. Sclerotic treatments generally enable a scar-free removal of the affected vessels.¹
Because the formation of varicose and spider veins is often genetically predisposed, these can reform again after treatment. However, this is rarely to the same extent as pre-therapy conditions.⁵
