Thigh Lift - Risks

As with every operation, a thigh lift harbors risks. Due to the size of the wound surface, there is the possibility of the occurrence of bruising, bleeding, wound recovery problems, or bacterial inflammations. In the first post-operative weeks, skin sensation and lymph outflow are reduced, which should regress after some time. However, in the area of the scars, these changes may remain for longer periods. It may likewise be the case that conspicuously visible scars remain after interrupted healing periods, which would then need to be corrected in a second, out-patient procedure. Should there be substantial blood loss, you will need to fall back on infusions or blood transfusions. However, this occurs very rarely. In extremely rare cases, thrombosis or embolism may occur.

It is therefore essential that you notify the doctor who is treating you of any pre-existing conditions such as vascular diseases, venal stasis, or blood clotting as well as your regular medication intake and existing allergies to plaster and bandages, salves, or medications.1,2
The doctor who is treating you should clarify these and further possible risks in greater detail.
